When I first started training with James, I had been going to the gym for around 8 years and had hit a plateau and given up several times.
I was unable to lift heavier without fear of causing injury to myself. The first thing James worked on with me was my form on all the main lifts I wanted to improve (squat, deadlift, overhead press and bench).
The level of detail he went into on form and which muscles are responsible for different part of the lifts was an amazing help. I was able to lift heavier and safer than I ever had before.
James also provided a training plan which focused on the main lifts I wanted but also the assistance work, which I had always been avoiding previously, this made a huge difference to my training and was a great motivation for me.

I used to avoid doing workouts due to them being too hard but I now relish anything James and I work on together and I have never been stronger as a result.
Even after switching to online during C19 James has always been at the other end of the line at any time to discuss issues I am facing and how to overcome or how we can modify my workouts to suit me but still make challenging.

When I first started at the gym I was extremely unfit, having not exercised for some time and had never considered lifting weights regularly as part of a fitness regime, but now cannot imagine going to a gym and not lifting, and have changed and improved so much physically and mentally.
I would not hesitate to recommend James to anyone who wants to start or continue their fitness journey.
I started training with James in February 2019, with a view to improving on my general fitness, whilst also encompassing strength training; as I knew from past experiences this was my strong suit. It was hard to begin with, as I had not exercised for a few years.
Through talking with James and deciding upon the best approach which would work for me, we started training on a regular basis. As the time elapsed I could feel the hard work paying off, my overall health was improving and I was gaining lean muscle mass, whilst also loosing fat and this was really encouraging.
I have since moved on to training for powerlifting. This became a great source of motivation and passion for me throughout my training. Every step of the way, we have discussed the training/coaching approach during each session and how I was working towards the goals I had set.
It was important for me to have a coach who understood what I was looking for and was able to apply the knowledge, which I didn’t have, to get me to that point. I also needed someone who would not let me give up when I felt tired; which has allowed me to do more than I thought I was ever capable of. I look forward to continue my journey and have James as my coach, to educate me throughout it.
